Paul Zars – President
With more than 25 years in the pool and outdoor living industry, Paul Zars brings a legacy of experience, leadership, and innovation to his role as President of Gary’s Pool & Patio. The son of the late founder, Gary Zars, Paul grew up immersed in the family business and officially began his career at Gary’s in 1998. He spent the next 14 years helping create dream backyards and building the company’s reputation for quality and excellence.
In 2012, Paul expanded his experience by joining Keith Zars Pools, where he continued to refine his expertise and deepen his industry knowledge over the next decade.
From 2018 to 2020, Paul also starred on 19 episodes of the nationally televised show Pool Kings on the DIY Network, where he showcased the design and construction of high-end custom pools for clients across San Antonio and the surrounding areas. His creative vision and practical expertise brought outdoor dreams to life on a national stage.
In 2022, Paul returned to Gary’s Pool & Patio as President, proudly continuing the legacy his father began in 1979. Today, he leads the company with a focus on quality, customer service, and innovation—ensuring every project reflects the high standards Gary’s Pool & Patio has been known for since day one.
Paul oversees all aspects of operations, from project planning and team development to ensuring every client experience is seamless and rewarding.
Outside of work, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife, Meg, and their pups. He loves poolside cookouts, values quality time with family and friends, and enjoys traveling, fishing, and hunting. His passion for the outdoors and his genuine love for connecting with others are just a few of the qualities that make him a dynamic leader and a proud ambassador of the Gary’s Pool & Patio legacy.
Felix Galvan Jr. – Sales Manager & Pool Specialist
With over 25 years of experience in the pool and patio industry, Felix Galvan Jr. is a trusted expert in everything swimming pools—from design and sales to installation and project completion. With nearly a decade now at Gary’s Pool & Patio, he not only plays a key role in overseeing sales operations & supporting the sales team, but is dedicated to and passionate about helping homeowners and businesses bring their outdoor visions to life.
Whether it’s planning the layout, breaking ground, or completing the surrounding concrete work, he ensures every phase is handled with precision and care.
Felix’s expertise is not just in getting the job done, but in ensuring it’s done right. His wealth of knowledge is invaluable to homeowners and businesses alike, making him a key asset in guiding clients through the decision-making process. Whether you’re in the early stages of planning or are ready to move forward with your project, Felix’s experience will help you make informed decisions and bring your vision to life.
Outside of work, Felix enjoys spending quality time with his family, including his wife and son. His strong family values and passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces carry through in every project he’s a part of—helping clients build not just pools, but places where memories are made.
Freddie Schafroth – Regional Manager & Pool Specialist
With over 15 years of experience in the fiberglass pool industry, Freddie Schafroth has built a strong foundation in every phase of the pool-building process. He began his career as a part-time salesman and has since held several key roles—including time spent as a Production Manager—which have given him a comprehensive understanding of both the customer-facing and behind-the-scenes aspects of the job.
Now in San Antonio after relocating several years ago from our McAllen office, Freddie brings a well-rounded perspective and a genuine passion for helping homeowners bring their outdoor visions to life. His hands-on experience in sales, project coordination, and production gives him the unique ability to guide clients smoothly through the entire process—from initial design concepts to the finishing touches.
Freddie is known for his easygoing nature, attention to detail, and dedication to making every customer feel confident and informed. Whether you’re just beginning your pool journey or deep into the planning phase, Freddie is here to ensure the experience is both stress-free and rewarding.
Outside of work, Freddie enjoys spending time on the golf course, relaxing with video games, and getting his hands dirty in the garden. His combination of industry knowledge and approachable personality makes him a valued member of the Gary’s Pool & Patio team.
Carlos Ramirez – Pool Specialist
With 5 years of experience at Gary’s Pool & Patio, Carlos has become a valued member of the team known for his dedication, friendly approach, and commitment to delivering an outstanding customer experience. As a Pool Specialist, Carlos plays an important role in supporting clients throughout the backyard transformation journey—ensuring every detail is handled with care and attention.
Carlos brings a passion for the outdoors and a strong work ethic to every project. Whether he’s coordinating job site details or helping clients navigate their next steps, his focus is always on quality and service. He prides himself on clear communication, a positive attitude, and treating every customer like part of the Gary’s Pool & Patio family.
Outside of work, Carlos enjoys spending time with his family and friends, embracing everything nature has to offer. He’s an avid hiker, enjoys BBQing, and vacations that offer the opportunity to hit the slopes for a snowboarding adventure. His love for the outdoors gives him a unique appreciation for the value of creating beautiful, functional backyard spaces for others.
